Over the last few weeks a terrible yet oddly positive virus has hit Hawley Square. Scaffold and renovations have spread along the south side of this delightful sq. Workmen and work women have been seen twirling like germs up and down the ladders and walkways akin to crazy Pac Man ghosts intent on getting there revenge to immunize against rotting window frames and peeling
paintwork.




While this contagious work goes on on the south side; on the west side, alone and shivering from damp and cold sits the one building in most need of the biggest dose. It waits to be saved by the council who should have by now forced works or scaffolded and covered its historic and wheezing charred heart. The picture below shows the day after its near total demise.

As another fire consumes a beautiful building in Margate, we should consider active pride of our heritage, our architecture and our surroundings, and we should feel sad and let our anger at this pointless destruction fuel action to preserve that which should not be lost.

Yes my dearios we had a 'Fun Fair' arrive on the square last week for a three day extravaganza, to celebrate the opening of the new library???Mmmm.As you can see it was well attended by the ride operators and council workmen.

I was told by a nice lady from the council that the fair was for children and that we didn't have to worry about anti-social behavior, drunkenness etc. This was being encouraged and supported by the game/stall holders, where their main prizes for knocking something off something or hooping a hoop around a something was bottles of booze. (you can just make out the bottle shapes on the last image - give it a click)

Great prizes for 'the kiddies', get em started young.....

If you kind folk go to the imbibe page you will see that i have erased the squares already chosen by the poeple who have commented on the game entry. (including the wifes which was wrong anyhow - as im afraid was the others).
